TU Delft and Erasmus University Rotterdam bathe in the light
As part of IYL 2015, the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies, on 1 October TU Delft and Erasmus University Rotterdam held a joint “U-Meet” on the subject of light. This featured contributions from Clemens Löwik of the Erasmus Medical Centre, Aurèle Adam and Arno Smets from TU Delft and Bart Verbeek from Photonics NL. Topics covered ranged from the use of light-emitting molecules in cancer diagnostics to the latest generation of solar cells. The annual U-Meets are a series of public events held under the auspices of Dutch universities’ association VSNU during or around the National Science Weekend. All of this year’s meets reflected the theme of light, inspired by IYL 2015, approaching it from a variety of angles. More details on the U-meet can be found in the VSNU’s E-zine.
